Fly Like an Eagle

Well Steve Miller captured it perfectly in his song “Fly Like an Eagle” which totally represents the goal we have recently achieved in our business.

Yes we are “Eagles” which for 75% (EDIT: previously had 99.9% but there are quite a few of you who do understand) of you reading this will mean nothing to you.  However it means a HUGE deal to us because we’ve obtained a level in this business that only 5% of the people obtain.  We obtained it because we worked hard at something we 110% believe in.  There is nothing you can say to me that can tell us this does not work.  Oh it works alright.  We’ve seen it first hand in our direct coaches, their coaches, their coaches, and so on.  We are building an amazing team of people who want more out of life, people who are looking for coaching and mentorship.  You have no idea how amazing it is to sow into people that are so open and deserving of coaching and mentorship.  We are in the business of changing lives and we are doing that right now.  It’s very humbling.

We recently attended an organizational open for Mike and Brandie Wagner where David Payne came in to show us an amazing plan.  David spoke his heart out and really has sown so much time into Mike and Brandie and for that they’ve built an amazing Emerald business.  Without them building the business we would not be where we are.  We would not be investing time into people, helping people realize the potential they have and just helping them build amazing relationships with other people and with themselves.  We would not have the amazing marriage we have now, no it wasn’t bad before, however it’s 10x’s better now because of this business.  When you associate with people that have awesome marriages and that really serve each other as a couple, you become that.  You are the product of the books you read and the people you associate with.  I believe in that statement more then you can even know!

We WILL achieve the huge goals and dreams we have set out because we have them written down and plastered over our condo, and we associate with like minded people.  We believe fully in what we do which is 95% investing into people by coaching and mentoring and 5% a business vehicle.

The Guthrie Train is moving on, and we have a Double Eagle vision!

  1. LOL I think I’ll stick to my original comment of

“Congratz on everything you and Linds are doing with with your business.” – cause I still don’t understand ;) hehehe

Actually that was a helpful description Bridgett as it gave me a bit of insight without telling me actual dollar and cents (which wasn’t the intent of my original request for more information on what EAGLE or 1000 pins means).

If it means that Shaun and Linds are doing it “right” and growing their business effectively then at the end of the day the “birds” or “stones” are just words (Eagle, Emerald, Diamond, etc). In business like in anything else if you grow too quickly or cheat your way to get ahead you’ll more then likely fail without the proper foundation in place.

So if “width” is good and “Eagle” means you’ve got it (or are getting it) then I hope Shaun and Linds both get thicker and thicker ;) just not in a physical sense LOL

  2. Being an ‘eagle’ is having certain business parameters, in place that has better profitability. In the Amway Business, to say you are a “Platinum” doesn’t tell me much about the income you’re making unless I also know the STRUCTURE. In other words, IBOs could be running the same volume in each of their organizations, but there is a VERY large difference in terms of $$$, based on if that volume is down, say three legs, versus 12 legs.

So the Eagle concept was created by WWDB (in 1997?) to insure that IBOs have good width, and good volume in their own personal business, which includes a retail volume component to it, so that they are profitable.

Too many people were stuck on “pins”–Platinum, Emerald, Diamond–rather than focusing on $$$. And so they were building shallow, unstable, not-as-profitable businesses. So the Eagle concept was introduced to ‘de-pin’ IBOs’ brains.

Other groups other than WWDB, such as BWW also now use the Eagle concept, but their parameters are slightly different.

    • Thanks Bridgett, that’s a pretty good description.

I believe that’s also why people got frustrated with the Amway Business in earlier times because they were not building it properly or as we say with the right parameters. That’s where WWDB comes in to help people build profitable and stable business’s if they are willing to be coached and mentored.

  3. Hey Shaun

Thanks for the reply and I have a couple more questions/comments before I go… I understand your sentiments about “owning a business and not blurting out their full business plan to the world” but aren’t you basically telling the success of your business (for those who know the terminology) by saying you’ve achieved 1000 pin or Eagle status?

If I was to tell you that Benchmark IT Consulting has gone “GOLD” (nice Olympic theme word here hehehe) I’m sure you’d be happy for me because I was happy about it… but what would your first question be?….. What the heck is GOLD?? LOL and that question would not spawn from a desire to do what Benchmark IT Consulting does… but as a way to share in the happiness and to not just offer an empty “good job” without knowing why you’re saying “good job” :)

“If someone doens’t have a need want or desire, has no goals, has no motivation, is comfortable with their job, then why bother telling someone the business plan?”

I think you might offend a few people with that one so I hope it was just typed out wrong from what you meant… I think you know that I have plenty of desire, goals, motivation and have my own “residual income” source. I firmly believe that people need that to really get ahead in achieving their goals but what vehicle they choose to get there is up to them. Just because I’m not in the same business you’re in it doesn’t mean my desire is any less, my goals are meaningless, and my motivation is non-existant.

So to circle all this back to my original comment to this post… my desire to know what “1000 pin” or “Eagle” status meant was nothing more then a good friend wanting to offer more then a blanket/empty “good job” by knowing what I was congratulating you for.

You mention struggling with knowing what you should and shouldn’t put in this blog and I think to answer that question (just my opinion mind you) you’ll have to determine your “target audience” (WWDB/Amway IBOs or Anyone and Everyone) cause right now Joe Smith (Random Name of an WWDB/Amway IBO) knows more about the success you and Lindsay are having then some of your good friends.

Anyways… at the end of the day the comment was a heartfelt congratulations and I wish you and Lindsay continued success.

    • Just know that we appreciate the congratulations and while you may not exactly know what the specific terms are, we do know because you are good friends of ours that your congrats is heartfelt.

My comment about the need, want and desire, while the example I gave was about us specifically talking to someone, there has to be a desire for something more, and wanting those dreams, goals, etc… Not a lot of people have that to begin with (whether it’s our business or some other business/vehicle) We fully understand this isn’t the only vehicle, there are many others and we 100% respect that and the one you have. The thing we’ve noticed in talking with people is they don’t even have dreams, goals or any method of obtaining them and quite frankly don’t want to do anything to achieve those things. These are the people I was talking about. It’s unfortunate but at the very minimum 75% of the world is like this.

For you and I, we are the ones that want more in life and we are doing the “whatever it takes” to achieve those things in life. That is awesome.

Again we know your congrats is heartfelt, thank you!

  4. Shaun

Congratz on everything you and Linds are doing with with your business.

    One request though….

As someone who is not in “the business” or knowledgable of WWDB or Amway, the whole 1000 pins and “Eagle” status really don’t mean anything to me and you basically say that:

“That goal won’t mean much to most but it’s a significant goal”

“Yes we are “Eagles” which for 99.9% of you reading this will mean nothing to you.”

As a friend I congratulate you but it would mean more to me if I knew what I was congratulating you for LOL This blog is a place where you’re documenting your progress and thoughts but is your “target audidence” just people in the Amway or WWDB business? It seems like you might leave some of your readers who are not in the business in the dark on your successes with the terminology/lingo.

You’ve been very upfront and honest about everything you guys are doing through this blog; which is awesome; as I’ve found many that I’ve discussed businesses like this with often are very secretive about the whole thing…I mean you even scanned and showed Lindsay’s first WWDB cheque LOL hows that for honesty… so for someone who is not in the business can you explain to me what 1000 PIN and EAGLE statuses are?

    Thanks!

    ~ Colin

    • Hey Colin,

Thanks for the congrats and comments.

There is obviously an information process that we take people through where we explain a lot of the things I talk about on here. To discuss it in full detail on here wouldn’t actually be appropriate. I really struggle sometimes with this blog on what I want to say compared to what actually makes sense. Sure “Eagle” and “1000 pin” don’t mean much to some people but I actually should reduce my % because I tend to forget there are a lot of people who do read this that do know.

I guess as friends and people who are not in the business if you want to know more then lets talk. I mean does someone who owns a business blurt out their full business plan to the world? Not likely, they interview and qualify people to find out if they really have a desire for that particular business. We do the same thing. Which is why some people like you said “are very secretive about the whole thing”.

The interview and qualification process that we take people through is to find out if they have a need want and desire for something more in life. If they do and are interested in looking at an opportunity then we show them the business plan which will answer a lot of those questions. If someone doens’t have a need want or desire, has no goals, has no motivation, is comfortable with their job, then why bother telling someone the business plan?

Obviously we are more then just strangers and are good friends so next time I’m over I’ll see if I can give you more information, but again without seeing the full picture you still probably won’t understand.
