We’ve Sold Our Condo

soldTonight the conditions were removed on the condo we are selling just outside of downtown Edmonton.  We  could not be more excited for the condo to sell and what this will mean for our future.

Over the last 6 months I’ve been keeping an eye on the housing market and how the interest rates are on the rise.  Indications are the housing market is going to cool off at the end of this quarter and stay that way for the next two years.  I’ve not taken this from just one source but many sources however… You kinda have to go on your gut feeling with these things because markets and economies change in the blink of an eye.

So with us selling our house we will almost be debt free.  The only thing left will be my 2006 Mazda 3 payments which should be paid off before the end of the year.  Regardless of that small payment we will be almost debt free, which means no more consumer debt. That is a HUGE HUGE milestone for us as we’ve been so irresponsible in the past. Getting around some amazing people who want and are living a debt free lifestyle has changed our own mentality to live the same life.  You will not truly know yourself until you are debt free and I am pumped to learn that pretty darn quick.

So what’s in store for the Guthrie’s now?

We are going to rent for the next 2 years here in Edmonton in a top floor house.  We’ve actually found a really nice place which we are going to look at tomorrow.  The one bad thing that the condo had was there was no second bedroom and we want to try for kids this fall and need that extra bedroom.  So this fits in with our future family plans.  We will rent for a few years and then assess our situation and possibly upgrade our rental situation into something nicer for the 3rd year.  The 4 year or sooner (depending on how things go) we will be moving out to Kelowna where we will rent for one more year and then build or buy a house out there.  I’ve done some number crunching and while renting we will be able to save WAY more then our condo would ever appreciate in value.  When you live a debt free lifestyle all that money you paid towards debt, ends up going towards a savings.  When you add it all up, that’s a CRAP load of money!

The next 4 years for us is going to be pretty awesome.  We’ve got some amazing coaches, mentors, and friends in our life and we are pumped at what the next few years will come for all of us.  I’m also really excited for what is going to happen to this Edmonton / Alberta market with our business.  It’s heating up big time and there will be some huge changes a comin ;)
