June Regional Rally – Dave Severn

Good morning!  It’s 7:30am or it was when I first got here at the Edmonton Holiday Inn and Conference Centre.  I’m probably about 75-100 people deep in the line and people have been here since 10:30am Friday morning.  Crazy!  I’m not that crazy and need my sleep!

So Mr. Dave Severn is going to be here for some great teaching and to tell us his story later this evening.  I’ve seen Dave before down in Kalispell, Montana for a rally down there and he’s an amazing speaking.  Very convicted and very passionate.

This will probably be the first and last time that Dave comes here as he does not usually do Regional Rallies to far from his home.  However this time he’s intrigued by what’s going on in this Alberta / Edmonton market.  To put that in perspective, there are Diamonds, and Double Diamonds asking our Emeralds how are you guys building business?  What is this “qualification process” that you guys have.  Are you kidding me?  Diamonds asking downline Emeralds how to build business?? Now that is awesome and very inspiring.

So today looks like this:

2pm-4pm: training/teaching
7pm-late: pin crossings, boardplan, story

Going to be a beautiful day!

  1. Just going to throw this out there Shaun. When you show up in line at 730 AM and stand there for 5 or 6 hours do you really feel that’s an efficient use of time?
    .
What I would submit is that you are going to hear the same information as the folks who walk in at the last second because they were doing a couple plans in that 5 hours you spent standing in line.
    .
Whether people are there 5 hours or 5 minutes before the seminar starts, they are still going to hear the same information from the speakers, right?
    .
I understand some of the business is about association, it’s the same in a lot of industries. However, I have never seen a successful business put positive association in front of efficiency and productivity. That’s what I see going on when you are standing in line for hours on end to hear a guy talk about things which may or may not work in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba.
    .
I have attended Anthony Robbins seminars, and when you have a ticket, that’s it. People don’t show up the day before and camp out all night to get in the front because it’s obvious they will get the same information no matter what seat they sit in, whether it’s 5 feet or 500 feet from the speaker.
    .
I just don’t understand the need to spend all this time in a line to get up front near the speaker. Does this mean all the people who don’t stand in line are doomed to failure?
    .
Just curious, and sincerely there is no disrespect intended. I’m sure there’s quite a few people who may think along the same lines who aren’t in the business.

My fam and I are going to a fair today, hope you have a good day as well! The weather looks nicer in Edmonton than it is out on the Prairies to the east of you! I guess we’ll see that nice stuff tomorrow!
    .
Rock on, and don’t stay up too late!

    • Great comment and good questions.

I do agree there is a point where coming to early is not as efficient as coming the day of. We actually had a boardplan last night so we were busy with that and we also know we need sleep in order to take in the information given. We also don’t plan boardplans on Saturday and usually use Saturday’s to re-charge if there are no events. I think the people who line up 24 hours before are being inefficient because there is so much you could do in that time, but that is their choice.

Everyone is their own business owner and if they choose to come early or late that’s their perogative and nobody tells anyone what time to show up. So I just leave it at that. However I guess I could equate this to the same thing people did when they lined up hours or days before a movie or concert tickets. How is this any different? People want to be right by the stage or get the best seats for the movie so they can have the best experience. A movie and a concert no matter where you sit you’ll get the same information, however where you sit depends on the kind of experience you get. The only difference with this compared to a movie/concert is I believe this is going to move my life forward where a concert or movie at this point in our life won’t.

For me personally the closer I am to the speaker (in this business or even in work type settings) the more I get out of it. No you are not doomed to failure if you come in last minute or if you sit at the back of the room. I guess what I’m saying is it’s my choice to line up early because I know it works for me.

To each their own I guess.

Enjoy the Fair, make the most out of the weather you do have.

      Thanks
      Shaun
