Today Lindsay is doing a SpaCafe event for a friend of ours that is getting married next year. What’s creative about this SpaCafe is that all proceeds from client orders will go directly back to the bride-to-be. Lindsay thought it would be a great way to raise some money doing a mini-spa type of event so that the bride could use that money for whatever she wanted for her wedding. Be it a spa day, nails, facial, etc…
She brought over a lot of the new Artistry products which are 1 of the top 5 prestigious brands out there and I believe she let people see, feel, try, etc… To be honest I don’t know exactly what she does. I’ve never attended one of these SpaCafe’s myself. It’s not really my cup of tea hehe. A huge thanks to all the guests who showed up and supported the bride by making some orders, after all the afternoon was all about the bride. Isn’t it always
?
I just love how we have so much flexibility with our business and what we can do with it. We’ve decided to be selfless and give back all these proceeds to the bride as I mentioned before. That’s awesome! Being an entrepreneur gives you all kinds of choices and I’m glad we have the power to make them. Lindsay loves these events because she gets to interact with new people about something she really is passionate about. This is just one of the awesome things we get to do. I love you Lindsay for being such an amazing person, giving and selfless!

OK. I believe if you are going to help someone, you just do it and don’t advertise it. I don’t know how better to make my point than by referring to Don Cherry when he was asked about donations he’s made when helping people out.
He said something along the lines of true charity being anonymous. It fits but it doesn’t in this case.
I see business owners helping out people by donating to wedding socials all the time, but it’s not broadcasted everywhere.
Lots of people give money to brides & grooms for the wedding.
This is just the first time I’ve ever seen a blog post dedicated to what a great thing the blogger did for a bride.
That’s all. For me, true charity is anonymous. You are all free to disagree.
I wasn’t looking to get credit at all from “The Internet”. I was pointing out something creative we did with our business and how in turn we were going to give the proceeds to them. I’m a new entrepreneur and I’m excited about some of the things that we do and to be honest this blog is about my experiences and that hopefully it inspires others. If it can inspire others to help people in say the way I did then so be it, if it’s of no value then that’s fine to. The people who don’t find it of value don’t comment or put me down for the things I do.
I will agree that true charity being anonymous and trust me when we get to the point that we can actually make a difference in some of the causes we support we will be as we are very giving people. I didn’t treat this event as a “charity”, it was just something nice to do for someone and they were fully aware of what Lindsay was doing.
The reason I get my back up to your comments sometimes, especially on something like this is because I don’t find your comments very well balanced. You only seem to take aim at business related items to try and slam me. At least that’s how it appears. I have a lot of other topics that are not business related and yet nobody comments on those.

My point..was obviously missed. I have to work better at articulating myself.
Why don’t you try and explain what your point was? I think it was obvious what you were trying to do and people called you on it. Colin nailed it bang on yet no reply?
“…but glad out of everything in the post you pick that out.”
I audibly laughed when I read this. It is telling what one chooses to highlight, isn’t it?
Rocket – Why can’t you have your cake and eat it too?
Why can’t you help raise money for a new bride while still promoting/raising awareness of your business?
I’m friends with Shaun (and no I’m not in “the business”) but that is what it is… a business. How can any business be successful without marketing? I’m an independent IT consultant, I blog and speak at meetings/conferences cause I like the experience and helping people. As a side benefit it helps promote myself and increase awareness in the IT community to further my “brand”.
Anyways… just curious as to why you think you can’t help others and yourself at the same time?
have a good one!
But you’ll get the PV right?
Yes, your point being? That really wasn’t the point of my post, but glad out of everything in the post you pick that out.
