Over the last few weeks I’ve seen an increase in the amount of people that are trying to steal our dream or goals. Not sure why the increase but honestly it doesn’t matter. When you are focused on your goals and dreams, no matter what they are, you will achieve them. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to NOT let anyone steal those dreams and goals.
There are so many dream stealers out there that for whatever reason feel the need to try and break your focus, take your vision, take your dream and take your goals away. Maybe they are unsuccessful in their own lives and just want others to be like them. Who knows what reason it is but the only way to deflect these dream stealers is to put hedges up. Make sure that whatever it is that you are fighting for, whatever goals you have set out for your life is set deep, so deep that it doesn’t matter what someone says about them.
The absolute worst thing you could do is to give in and let them take your dream. Its your dream, tell them to get their own dream. We’ve had this happen so many times not only in what we’ve been doing in the last 6 months but our whole lives. I remember even growing up in high school having some pretty crazy and wild goals that people just said to me “you’ll never obtain/achieve/get that”. WHY NOT? Because YOU said so? Because you are the know-it-all? I know a prime example of this that comes to mind. Most of my friends know I played hockey for quite some time. During that time I was often told I would never play AA or AAA hockey. I knew I was good enough because I practiced more then anyone else, I would always be in the backyard playing with a stick and ball/puck and shooting on net, practicing stick handling, playing street hockey etc… (That’s a success principal by the way, doing what others are not willing to do). So when people told me I could never play that level of hockey I used that negative motivation and made it my mission to achieve it. I did. So don’t ever let someone say you cannot achieve something, because you can if you want to.
Like I said, I don’t know why its increased in the last few weeks but really, it doesn’t matter. We have set out our own vision, our own goals and have our own dreams. To be honest I like the negative motivation it just pushes me more and more to become successful and set that example. So keep it coming

Can Dreams even be stolen? Dreams are something inside of you. Something you see for yourself. They aren’t concrete. Someone else having a different Dream or questioning your commitment to your Dream can’ steal it. The Dream is where you see yourself, not how you got there (i.e. WWDC isn’t a dream, it’s the tools to make the dream a reality).
Turning Dreams into reality is a different story. All Dreams will take effort. The bigger the Dream, the bigger the effort. That’s the journey. Roadblocks and obstacles will come up along the way, but that is part of the journey to accomplishing accomplishing your Dream.
Dreams cannot simply be realized by wanting them. Even REALLY wanting them. They have to be attainable (for example, you can’t be the King of England if you aren’t heir to the thrown, even if you REALLY want to be). You have to be careful of people *helping* you with your dream. Some of them are so focused on their dreams they are willing to hurt people to get there. Unfortunatly, Amway has a reputation of attracting those types. These are people who will mislead you to get you to spend money (on products and tapes and functions, for example) so they can realized their dreams. If you are too enthusiatic (and they will try to help you be enthusiastic) and not careful or critical enough, you will lose the Dream. It won’t get stolen, you will have sacrificed it by not protecting it. Even the Direct Sales facts from a few posts ago sounded good, but if you thought about it a bit, it wasn’t very good support for Direct Sales at all. You have to use critical thinking at all times and don’t take peoples word (it’s your Dream you are working towards, protect it so it can become real).
Lastly, I find the whole idea of ‘camp comfortable’ implies something that is insulting. If you aren’t driven by money and have a picture of that dream car taped to your fridge, then you are just taking the comfortable way? The fancy sports car or a big house isn’t even on my radar. Not because I can’t afford it, but because I am driven by different things. I am a husband, father, friend, environmentalist, Canadian, human being….those are what drives me.
It’s not what you get that defines you. It’s what you give.
I think dreams are great and everyone has different goals and dreams. One thing though I like to remind people is don’t get so fixated on the dream (end goal) that you forget about the journey along the way. Dreams can be small or large. I have small dreams and accomplishments that I want to do and longer term goals. It’s important to be happy with your day to day life and not just think the end dream will be the utopia.
Happiness is defined differently by different people. Some people have to keep dangling the next carrot and saying you are a looser by staying in camp comfortable. Maybe camp comfortable is your dream. So while I agree people shouldn’t squash others dreams, the dreamers should also not profess to think everyone wants the same things out of life : )
I agree with you, everyone has their own dreams and goals for sure. I wanted to make sure that no matter what dream that is, even if the goal is to just be living in camp comfortable that nobody steal that away.
A worthy cause is worth and always will be fought for. I think many of us think, “Why don’t they see how great my dream is or the nobelness of our cause?” I believe many have lost their own dreams and are like the crabs who try to drag others to their condition so they feel more comfortable with themselves and giving up. But maybe that’s just me.
My mentor told me the other day, You have to get to the point when someone says somethng negative or tries to trow a little water on your fire to hold up your hand and say, “Woa, stop right there! Who are you to say that the dream that God gave me is not true? Who are you to say that? God gave me this dream. Are you Him?”
Sometimes people don’t come right out and steal your dreams but maybe just don’t support you or hang back when you say right this way, keep climbing…freedom is just over this mountain. Let’s go, and they want to stay at camp comfortable.
I don’t know what you believe in a spiritual sense, but I read in my Bible 1. God gives us dreams that are way bigger than we can handle on our own. 2. If the dream does not go beyond self, it’s not the full realization of the dream from God.
I guess my whole point is that many who try and steal dreams do not realize what they are doing.
The other way for those WWDBers is to keep the dream alive no matter what by trusting the system works. I never had any success in my business until I made the decision to be ten tenths CORE. I’m not that way everyday, but I come as close as I can regardless of circumstaces.
I was once an olympic athelete myself and can tell you that you that the battle is mostly one for your thoughts. If one disciplines oneself to stay focussed on what needs to be the main focus then anything can be achieved. Our actions are a product of our thoughts and God is no respector of persons…just faith. Faith is the dream in action. Problem is we have to get our thoughts right first. My dream goes way beyond just building a massive enterprise through this business.
Like one coach would tell me…Keep dreaming and don’t take any sh– from anyone!
All righty then! Enjoy the rest of the weekend, she’s a beaut!
You too, been a great weekend so far!
I’m not sure whether or not you’re referring to me, but I can assure you of a few things:
.
1. I’m not trying to steal your dream. What would I do with it? It’s yours. I have many of my own, some of which I have achieved, others which I am working towards achieving.
.
2. I would be considered by many to be successful in my career, and I hope for others to be happy and to have few financial worries as well.
.
3. I disagree that you will achieve any goal you want by simply focusing on it. There are TONS of people who don’t achieve their goals for many reasons. It happens. To further your hockey analogy, if you “decided” to make it to the big show, and spent more time practicing than anyone else you still won’t do it. No matter how much you want to, and no matter how noble your motivation is to get all that contract money in the highly coveted NHL world, it simply will not be.
.
You want to know my problem with Amway, and why I ask the questions I do? Because if you do, I’ll gladly share it. Out of respect for you, I won’t without your permission on this particular forum.
.
100% of my being wishes you and your wife well, sincerely. Whether or not I believe you are on the right track is irrelevant to you and I respect your right to disagree with me.
.
In spite of the fact that my experience with Amway is old, there are more commonalities my experience has with yours than differences, in spite of the 15 years that separates them.
.
I’m not a dream stealer. Obviously since I’ve been following this business for over a decade since my involvement, I do know more than a typical prospect would. It doesn’t make me negative or the enemy.
Rocket, no that was not directed at you at all. It was more a general entry that can be used for anyone.
If I thought you were being a jerk and always trying to be negative and really being a douche all the time I wouldn’t allow you to post.
Point 3. I think could be argued, if you look at athletes like Michael Phelps, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Wayne Gretzky, you look back at their childhood and every spare minute they had they were either swimming, shooting hoops, whacking balls, or shooting pucks way more than any individual out there and it was their determination to be the best that allowed them to succeed where others who just put in the minimum effort and coasted. Sure there is the odd occasion where sometimes the people who put in the effort don’t make it to the show, but as I looked around me to the guys who actually made it to the NHL that I played with, all of them put in more effort then I did and were more determined. Not saying I was gunning for the NHL, I decided to get an education instead.
But all the other stuff you mention I really don’t have a problem with, like I said if I did your posts would never get approved or would be filed under spam.
Thanks for posting!
