I was thinking today as my son is reaching 11 months old, that typically with most people the wife would go back to work.  Which means kids get stuck in daycare for 8-9 hours or more.  Well I’m VERY happy to say that is not the case for us.  I’m quite proud of the fact I’ve got people in my life that were able to help us create the means to give my wife the opportunity to stay home with our son.

It’s funny though, people will justify how daycare is so great and how it helps kids socialize.  I’m sorry I’ll call BS on that one.  My wife is able to take our son to the park, to events during the day and socialize with other kids just fine without having to take him to daycare. See the thing that sucks about daycare, someone else has 8-9 hours to instill their beliefs and values into your kid when they are developing the most.  I would much rather have the opportunity to have us as parents instill OUR beliefs and values into our son.  Amazing how people will justify their position because they have no other means of creating something else in their life.  This may be a bold statement however that’s how I feel and I would never trade the opportunity we have been able to create.

Just because everyone else puts their children in daycare does not mean it’s right or what you should do.  If you don’t want to then do something about it.  There are ways to make it happen…
