Reflections of Last Night

Last night’s Edmonton Open with Brad Duncan was unbelievable.  It always is when you can get around a man that stands on principal like he does.  I honestly don’t give a rip what you may “read” from some person somewhere on the internet, if you actually get around the man, talk to him you’ll see where his heart is.  Honestly he is the ONLY Crown that is still showing the plan!  Not to de-edify any of the other Amway Crowns, but none of them are as active as Brad or even showing the plan anymore.  Brad doesn’t have to show the plan anymore, he’s done his fair share of work and has an amazing business that with leaders like the Wagers and Whalen’s he doesn’t need to come out to Edmonton and show the plan. He also doesn’t need to stay until 1:30-2:00am and do some teaching.  We are very excited and very honored for him to come and that is why you see people lining up over 24 hours before the event, they want to be front and centre and get the most impact.

The room last night was just jam packed, I’d guess there was well over 1200 people who showed up.  People had to park over 5 blocks away.  You can tell this market is continually expanding function to function.  There are new faces all the time and it’s great to see.  Brad has the ability to speak to the people just starting and also the people who have been in awhile and invoke that burning desire for something more, whatever that looks like for them.

I was as always quite impacted by Brad.  I know that what we are doing is something that will impact a lot of people in a positive way.  From giving people freedom from their jobs, allowing people to achieve whatever goals they have (big and small), raising money for a great charity that Amway supports; Easter Seals, to just simply giving people a few extra hundred dollars a month.  You cannot tell me this does not work, it does and we are proof of that.  I have a wife that gets up when she wants, doesn’t have to answer to anyone but herself, gets to impact people in ways others cannot and is stress free.  Not a bad start at all I think.

Mr. Duncan will be in Kalispell, Montana October 13th and while that is totally unnecessary for us to go, we know the impact he has on us, not to mention the great association time we will get from other leaders in our organization that will be there.

Lastly if you are ever invited to hear Brad speak, I would highly recommend you go and listen to what he has to say.  Sure you may not agree with everything he says and that’s 100% okay, but you will be impacted by at least one thing he says.

Well last night was pretty cool, got down to 5 early this morning however my mummy sleeping bag and thermorest helped keep me warm and I actually got some sleep.

People continued to arrive through the morning and as of 9 am I think there are around 150 people so far. I know most of you reading this blog won’t understand why we would line up overnight for a speaker however that’s okay. You don’t need to understand :)

Waiting for Brad

Well it’s just after midnight and we are waiting in line for Brad Duncan who will be in town later this evening for a talk on success, money, marriages, relationships, truth, and a ton more.

We are so excited to be almost front of the line so that we can be impacted more then if we were at the back of a room full of 1200 people. Some may say it’s weird but so is waiting in line at Best Buy for the newest Halo game.

We basically came after we had some training with a team member so we were not wasting our time by being here. I was also able to take the day off work, the “benefit” of working lots of OT. So yes this is the best use of our time ;)

It’s going to be a great night later on, I’ll get a picture of the line when I wake up and then again before we go in. it will be huge!

Moving Up – Family Reunion 2010 Pictures

The beautiful beach of Seaside Oregon.  Who knew the Pacific Coast could be so nice!  However the water was honestly freezing cold. I did go in however.  I wasn’t planning on going all that way and NOT going into the ocean.
 

A sand castle one of the kids made during the “Kids Day” at the beach.  One of the things I love about what we do is that Family is number one.  That’s why we are building this thing so that we can set an amazing example for our kids.

IMG00459-20100718-0932 Brad’s new Ferrari F430 Spider that his wife surprised him with Saturday evening during Family Reunion.  Brad has wanted this car for the last 6 years and finally got it.  Julie bought it off of Doug DeVos CASH as he will be getting the brand new Ferrari 458 Italia fall of this year.  Pretty sweet gift.  If you could see the joy and tears in his eyes, it was a priceless moment.
   

On Vacation – Moving Up – Family Reunion

On-Vacation Today starts our little vacation I’ll call it.  We were able to attend Mike and Brandie Wagner’s Open last night at the Holiday Inn and it was ON FIRE.  WOW.  There is a reason why this market is on fire, because we invest time into people and build amazing relationships in and out of the business and we in succession are doing what the leaders before us have done.  Every single person before us has built a successful business and we are literally riding the coat tails and soaking it all up.  Just amazing.  Last month another amazing couple entered their Emerald Qualification and it’s just leader after leader after leader.  People wonder why there have not been many diamonds breaking in the last little while and that’s because people are just not wanting to step up.  Well this market is, and you’ll see two new diamonds come from this market probably at FED 2011 and many more Emeralds including ourselves!

So Monday we fly to Seaside Oregon to attend moving up, I’ve talked a bit about it before and really I have no idea what to expect.  I’ve heard some pretty amazing things come out of it from previous people that went and we are pumped to get the higher level of association and just get around people that are moving on in their business and see what it is they’ve done to create such success.  I’m really excited to explore the Oregon coast though, I’ve heard it’s pretty amazing and cannot wait to get up and go for a run along the beach.  Love it!

Friday we will head back inland to Portland where the Duncan Family Reunion will take place.  This is where Lindsay went to her first function and where I almost didn’t let her go because of my stubbornness and scepticism.  Now I’ll get to experience this function for the first time as official Eagles’ even though we are Double Eagles (we were not Double Eagle’s during qualification month for Family Reunion).  Either way it will be nice to sit at the front of the stage and just be able to soak in the function from the front.  I know we had a discussion earlier on this blog about it doesn’t matter where you sit its all the same information.  That is 100% true it is the same information, however it’s how it’s delivered and for me personally I’d much rather be at the front where I can see the speaker live instead of via the screen and I get to feel more impacted because its like the speaker is talking to you.  Same idea about concerts, why do people fight to get at the front of the row for a concert?  They feel the experience is better right at the front where the musician is literally sweating over them.  Same idea.

Its going to be a great weekend and week coming up and I could not be more excited to celebrate our growth but more importantly get as much information as we can coming out of Moving Up so we can share with our team and the leaders that are growing and riding our coat tails.  We have a responsibility to our team to help build them into leaders so they can lead their own organization into greatness. 

I love this market we are in and you betcha it’s different from anything you’ve seen.  While others out there may have quit, or said it just didn’t work for them or what not, I’m sorry for that.  However we’ve got something special out here which is why it’s catching the attention of World Wide Dreambuilders and even Amway Global Canada is saying “what are you guys doing out in Alberta??”.  The answer really is being CORE and doing what other WWDB Leaders have done before us.  Its working so why change it?
