Today someone told me they didn’t have time for what we do. So I thought about it and I think this deserves a blog entry.
Time is precious for sure, don’t get me wrong I totally understand that. What I don’t understand is how people can use it as an excuse to not do something. Now I know the above example was in regards to what we do, however this is not the first time I’ve heard this excuse for a myriad of other things.
For example I’ve heard people complain they don’t have enough time to do such and such hobby or such and such sport. So my question back to these people is what is that hobby or sport actually worth to you? If you say you’d like to do it but don’t have the time, are you just saying it for the sake of saying it? Or do you actually mean you want to do that sport/hobby? If you really truly wanted to do it then you’d make the necessary changes in your life to make the time.
People who are busy actually have more time then people who are not busy. Why? Because the people who are busy are excellent at scheduling and making time. How do you think they got so busy? People who are not busy, perhaps people who just sit every evening and watch T.V. are so conditioned they don’t realize they can make the time, but they are to lazy to make a change in their life. Now I’m not saying everyone here is lazy, however we as North Americans are generally lazy.
Now the point I’m trying to make here is if something is that important to you then wouldn’t you want to make a change? Even if that change meant a bit of hard work for a short period of time. I recently posted how you reap what you sow; if you invest time then you’ll get time. So why are people unwilling to make time? It’s not necessarily because people are lazy, its because people are generally afraid of change. To create time you need to change what your already doing and people really don’t like changing the way they do things.
Having said that, the people who are willing to makechanges so they can accomplish the things they said they didn’t have time for are the successful ones. They are the people who have the “do whatever it takes” mentality, the people who break through the wall of fear.
The Guthrie’s are people who have that “do whatever it takes mentality because we realize that small time pain = long term gain.
What are you willing to do to achieve more with your life?
