Moving Up – Family Reunion 2010 Pictures

As promised here are a few pictures from Moving Up and Family Reunion this year.  Such a great time!

The beautiful beach of Seaside Oregon.  Who knew the Pacific Coast could be so nice!  However the water was honestly freezing cold. I did go in however.  I wasn’t planning on going all that way and NOT going into the ocean.

A sand castle one of the kids made during the “Kids Day” at the beach.  One of the things I love about what we do is that Family is number one.  That’s why we are building this thing so that we can set an amazing example for our kids.

Lindsay and I attending out very first “Moving Up”.  Cannot wait to continue to grow so that we can bring our leaders to this event and have them experience what we did. Amazing leadership and great relationship building IMG00418-20100715-1915

Question and Answer time the last night of Moving Up with Brad and Julie.  Such amazing servers.

Lindsay and I dressed up for the Platinum Dinner where all new Double Eagles and above attend.  The theme for the night was 70’s/80’s.  We decided for fun to dress as old school Amway Distributors.  It was a hit! IMG00428-20100716-1754

IMG00459-20100718-0932 Brad’s new Ferrari F430 Spider that his wife surprised him with Saturday evening during Family Reunion.  Brad has wanted this car for the last 6 years and finally got it.  Julie bought it off of Doug DeVos CASH as he will be getting the brand new Ferrari 458 Italia fall of this year.  Pretty sweet gift.  If you could see the joy and tears in his eyes, it was a priceless moment.

Duncan Family Reunion Reflections

Duncan Family Reunion 2010, where to start.  First of all I have to say this was my first Duncan Family Reunion and have now attended all four major functions that World Wide Dreambuilders puts on.  Having been to every one I think this is one is the most raw, heartfelt function out of al of them.  I asked Lindsay how it compared to last year as she attended this one last year as her first major function and she said it’s grown substantially.  So for those who think World Wide Dreambuilders is declining in numbers you have no idea what your talking about because a) your either not involved anymore so have no clue and b) your in WWDB and not attending functions.  I’m not that shocked to be honest as I look at where my sponsors team was last year compared to this year and it’s much much larger.

The amount of speakers speaking at this function was also up and Canada DOMINATED the stage with a ton of speakers.  The talks were not about money, PV, or technical details; it was about where these speakers came from and how they got to where they are now.  I know 8 out of 10 speakers and all of their stories impacted people in so many ways.  For example… There was a crossline couple in another leg of the LOS we belong to that heard our coaches talk on the principals of marriage and what they stood from.  This couple I believe were comfortable with staying common law and not 100% committing to each other; after hearing our coaches speak on where they came from and what they stood for on marriage they proposed to each other that very night. Now that is the type of impact we have on people.

So this function was very different from the other functions I’ve attended because as I said before it was raw and in some ways uncut.  WWDB did not record any of the audio and it’s not available for download like Spring Leadership, Dream Night or FED.  It allows the speakers in this organization to be a bit more raw which is pretty sweet.  Not so much cookie cutter so to speak.   It was also different for us because we were at Moving Up before hand so we were already full in our heart and mind from the speakers before this weekend.  It allowed us to better serve our team this weekend so that we could allow them to get the most out of the function.

I guess the biggest impact on me from the week and the function is how unified World Wide Dreambuilders are now, at least in the Duncan Organization.  There was a lot of drama going on in the last few months and years and now that the weeds have been pulled this organization is able to move forward 100% unified with what seems to be a new life.  There will always be drama, issues, etc… with any organization.  Nobody said we were perfect and we don’t pretend to be by any means.  To be successful in anything you need to fail a lot and learn from that failure and be able to put it in the past.  People that cannot put things in the past will always be left behind.  So as we move forward, this team is unified like I’ve never heard or seen before.  People that were in the business before me and even my wife said there is a HUGE difference here where everyone is on board, everyone is on the same page and that people are back in “the fight”.  It was awesome to hear the different tone, conviction and passion in the Diamonds talks at both Moving Up and Family Reunion.

The heart in this organization is also very very apparent.  You’ve got people like Brad Duncan and Bob Kummer who every time they talk about their team, what impact we are going to make, family, marriage, etc.. come to tears because of the level of belief they have in this organization.  That is not something you can fake, lie, or miss-represent with those type of emotions.  When you stand on principal and are convicted with what you believe and have the fruit on the tree then that’s someone you want to get around and follow.  Don’t get me wrong we don’t blindly follow anyone but like I said as long as Brad stands on principal then I’ll follow him any day.

This was such an awesome week, so hard to describe but some great things came out of this week.  We are fired up, we have 1/2 of us retiring and not working for another man ever again and we are ready to teach others to do the exact same thing as us.  This is a simple business we are in however takes some hard work (this is not a get rich quick) and dedication but if you actually do what people before you have done you WILL become successful and we are proving that just like every single one of our coaches all in sequence without any gaps.

Looking forward to the upcoming week! Pictures to follow tomorrow!

Moving Up Week

Amazing!  Pretty much the one word to describe this whole week so far.  There is no way for me to be able to express just how impactful this week has been, it really is an event you need to experience in person.  It is an event that you need to qualify for and you do that by going Double Eagle or a 7500 PV volume business.  The proper way would be to go with the right parameters which is Double Eagle.  It is an event that we pay for however the investment as I’ll call it (because that’s what I personally thought this was) is WELL worth it. Investing in one’s self is always a win win.

This event was a huge elevated association event where we were able to grab multiple chances to get around our amazing upline from our coaches who we’ve kinda hosted in our shared two bedroom suite all the way to our upline Crown Brad Duncan.  I can tell you dream building with that man is amazing as we had the chance to yesterday for a good chunk of time.  Pretty amazing what goes on in that man’s head.  All of the Diamonds in Brad Duncan’s organization were there and we got to meet and talk with every single one.  I think the biggest impact for us was getting around our upline Emeralds and discussing some great vision with them and how our team plays in that and how we can continue to build an amazing people business.

The last thing that was pretty awesome compared to the last few years in this organization is how unified everyone is including all the diamonds.  Everyone is in the fight right now and there WILL be some huge growth coming with Diamonds breaking in Canada within the next year or two.  There may have been a lull for the last few years and yes we have not seen any diamonds break for awhile but just wait.  There is nothing wrong with the way things have gone and what is better now then in the past is how unified this organization is.  It’s never been this unified and unification is the key to anything in business, life and success.

So yeah this week has been great for that but also great to have a mini-vacation as well.  We’ve not had a vacation all year and hitting the beach during the days has been pretty sweet.  I got a pretty wicked sunburn on my legs as a always do when I hit the beaches.  I never remember to put suntan lotion on them.  Oh well.  We had the chance to do some shopping in these cute shops in this little beach town and also some time to just sleep in and have some mini-freedom during the week.

Lastly, this week after some counsel and some time to think about our situation and how well our business is doing, we set Lindsay’s freedom date.  August 27th, 2010 will be the date that Lindsay has the choice of if she wants to work or not.  The choice where she decides if she wants to be controlled by another man or be her own boss and do what she wants when she wants.  The day where she can stop dressing up, putting making up on and looking good for someone else and she can do that for me.  Don’t miss understand me here when I say all of this, I am all for women working and having a career if they so choose, however Lindsay chooses not to.  Lindsay chooses a life where she can really understand herself and do what she wants with her free time.  The biggest thing though, she gets to take time off BEFORE she even gets pregnant so that NO work stress enters her life when we do decide to get pregnant.  That is pretty amazing I think.

Anyway the week has been a pretty unreal week and we are so looking forward to Family Reunion coming up here this weekend.  We are full in our hearts and we are ready to serve our team this weekend so that they can fill up their hearts as well.

On Vacation – Moving Up – Family Reunion

On-Vacation Today starts our little vacation I’ll call it.  We were able to attend Mike and Brandie Wagner’s Open last night at the Holiday Inn and it was ON FIRE.  WOW.  There is a reason why this market is on fire, because we invest time into people and build amazing relationships in and out of the business and we in succession are doing what the leaders before us have done.  Every single person before us has built a successful business and we are literally riding the coat tails and soaking it all up.  Just amazing.  Last month another amazing couple entered their Emerald Qualification and it’s just leader after leader after leader.  People wonder why there have not been many diamonds breaking in the last little while and that’s because people are just not wanting to step up.  Well this market is, and you’ll see two new diamonds come from this market probably at FED 2011 and many more Emeralds including ourselves!

So Monday we fly to Seaside Oregon to attend moving up, I’ve talked a bit about it before and really I have no idea what to expect.  I’ve heard some pretty amazing things come out of it from previous people that went and we are pumped to get the higher level of association and just get around people that are moving on in their business and see what it is they’ve done to create such success.  I’m really excited to explore the Oregon coast though, I’ve heard it’s pretty amazing and cannot wait to get up and go for a run along the beach.  Love it!

Friday we will head back inland to Portland where the Duncan Family Reunion will take place.  This is where Lindsay went to her first function and where I almost didn’t let her go because of my stubbornness and scepticism.  Now I’ll get to experience this function for the first time as official Eagles’ even though we are Double Eagles (we were not Double Eagle’s during qualification month for Family Reunion).  Either way it will be nice to sit at the front of the stage and just be able to soak in the function from the front.  I know we had a discussion earlier on this blog about it doesn’t matter where you sit its all the same information.  That is 100% true it is the same information, however it’s how it’s delivered and for me personally I’d much rather be at the front where I can see the speaker live instead of via the screen and I get to feel more impacted because its like the speaker is talking to you.  Same idea about concerts, why do people fight to get at the front of the row for a concert?  They feel the experience is better right at the front where the musician is literally sweating over them.  Same idea.

Its going to be a great weekend and week coming up and I could not be more excited to celebrate our growth but more importantly get as much information as we can coming out of Moving Up so we can share with our team and the leaders that are growing and riding our coat tails.  We have a responsibility to our team to help build them into leaders so they can lead their own organization into greatness.

I love this market we are in and you betcha it’s different from anything you’ve seen.  While others out there may have quit, or said it just didn’t work for them or what not, I’m sorry for that.  However we’ve got something special out here which is why it’s catching the attention of World Wide Dreambuilders and even Amway Global Canada is saying “what are you guys doing out in Alberta??”.  The answer really is being CORE and doing what other WWDB Leaders have done before us.  Its working so why change it?

Going Double Eagle is Tough Work

As of June 29th we have qualified as Double Eagles which is aWorld Wide Dreambuilders parameter for building a strong foundation for your business.  I’m not going to really go into the details of what a Double Eagle is but more talk about the mentality, the ups and downs and temptations we came across as we made the decision to go Double Eagle.

It starts with just that, a decision.  If you do not make that decision in your mind and prepare yourself for the battle then you won’t do it.  That’s how we’ve built our business with every milestone that we’ve achieved.  You need to make a conscious decision on what it is you want to achieve but more importantly WHY.  Why are you striving for the goal your after?  For us this time around it means that Lindsay is pretty darn close to solidifying that retirement day.

So I mentioned we had some up’s and downs along the road to Double Eagle and we did.  We had someone on our team decide to quit and while there are no hard feelings it was a great lesson for us.  It definitely helped us build character and allowed us to get it out of the way.  I would be lying if I were to say that nobody would ever quit. I’d also be pretty insane if I thought that too.  So it happened and we moved on.  We still love those people and will continue our friendship with them, that will never change because we are about building relationships.

We’ve had a few no-show’s where people say they are going to meet us for a coffee and they just don’t show up.  There are a lot of unaccountable people in the world and that’s fine.  A lot of times we are not even meeting people to ”get into” our business, we just want to build relationships and get to know more people.  Somtimes the conversations end up going down the path where people want to know what we are doing and so we tell them.  We’ve also had some people move through the interview and qualification process and they either drop interest or drop off the face of the earth.  That’s cool, we don’t have time to invest our time into people who don’t want it or are just unaccountable.  However through all this we’ve found some pretty amazing winners who are keen about changing their life for the better, want more out of life then the average and are huge huge dreamers.  I love meeting these people because they inspire me in so many ways.

Lastly we were temped by what we thought was an amazing opportunity to launch a new business builder that was keen on getting setup, was ready to attend the Family Reunion major function and it just seemed that it was gold.  However we later realized this person ended up leaving another line of sponsorship for some personal reasons and never reconciled with those people.  This person was looking for a quick way to get back into World Wide without properly fixing previous problems and relationships.  We counseled on it over and over to make sure we were doing the right thing and we in the long run decided not to sponsor this person.  We would only be hurting this person by giving them the easy road and not letting them reconcile whatever issues they had before.  That was a huge leadership move for us because we could have sponsored this person, solidified our last parameter for Double Eagle and be done with it.

I believe because of that choice we were blessed with an amazing opportunity to sponsor someone else who was ready to go pretty much within ten days.  That’s probably the quickest we’ve ever launched someone but they were ready.  When they were researching about what we did and saw our website they found out it looked someone similar to their cousin’s website.  So they called the cousin and he said they’ve been involved with World Wide Dreambuilders for 15 years however are not actively building at this time.  He spoke very highly of the Alberta team (he’s not in our market but hears a lot of what’s going on here) and said that whatever you do, make sure your upline is plugged into World Wide and that they are strong active uplines.  He also mentioned that he should not sponsor our prospect because the person that finds you is the right person for you.  How awesome is that?  This person could have easily said, you should sign up under me, we are family but instead he doesn’t and does what’s best for our prospect.  The awesome thing is World Wide is World Wide no matter what part of the country.  That’s the kind of integrity that we have within our organization.  Yes some might not build it the same way but that’s how WE build it and that’s why we will be successful in what we are doing.

So the road to Double Eagle has been a tough one but has been very rewarding.  We will also be attending Moving Up which is a huge leadership event that will help us elevate our own leadership so that we can become the best coaches for our team.

Look out Seaside Oregon here we come!
