Amway Helping Slave Lake Alberta

slave-lake-fireIt’s old news now but the impact of the recent Slave Lake fire is still felt today as many people have lost their homes and many belongings to this massive fire that destroyed 40% of the town.  http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/story/2011/05/16/slave-lake-fire-evacuation.html

Yesterday I heard someone from our upline, I’m guessing our upline Emeralds who used to live close to Slave Lake, contacted Amway to let them know about this disaster. I’m sure most of you know Amway is very giving when it comes to disasters and relief efforts and this was no exception.  They work closely with The Red Cross and now that they’ve been aware of the Slave Lake fire they’ve added it to their list to help out.  Just like that it was added. That’s pretty darn awesome to have a company that will help out that quickly in a time of need and I’ll support that big time.  Lindsay and I are big in helping those in need and contributing where we can and to be part of a company that has those same values is awesome.

A big thank you goes out to all those men and women who served to save the majority of the city, without those efforts the whole town would have been lost and many more people displaced from their homes. Also a big thank you to Amway and The Red Cross for making sure those affected are taken care of and some semblance of normalcy is returned.

If you want to help out you can donate through the Red Cross here – http://www.redcross.ca/article.asp?id=39285&tid=001

Update: Will and Kate visited Slave Lake with the Royal Tour today July 6th. Very nice gesture of them to visit what is being called Canada’s second worst insurance claim disaster

Still Alive

Things have been a little hectic in the Guthrie household.  Currently we are back from Toronto and I’m back from a little work trip to Victoria where I avoided a fire/smoke on our WestJet plane.  Yeah one of the TVs on the plane was smoking or whatever and we had to emergency exit the plane.  Was kinda interesting and nerve racking at the same time as it’s the first time I’ve ever had to exit the plane under an emergency.  First for everything.  I do have to say Darryl in Victoria re-booked our flight lickady split, to bad it was 6 hours later.  Either way we made it back to Edmonton on another flight and WestJet took care of us.  Nice to see in an airline.

So we are back home and continuing our charge for Double Eagle.  I’ll be honest it’s been the hardest thing that I’ve ever done.  Anyone that tells you what we do is easy that are LYING.  If you want to really succeed in what we do you need to put energy and time into this.  Sure everyone’s business grows at different paces and we do not push people into something they are not ready for.  We also do not set anyone’s pace.  We are going hard because we want to achieve some higher goals with World Wide Dreambuilders / Amway Global faster then what most do.  That just seems to be the way team Alberta does it.  However we do it with integrity, with quality hard working people, and with proper profitable parameters.

We will be attending Moving Up right before Family Reunion which we are pumped for.  Moving Up is a leadership incentive for achieving Double Eagle or 7500 PV.  From what I understand it’s a great raw leadership event that we will be able to get great teaching directly from Diamonds and above in a very close an intimate setting.  Really looking forward to getting away and relaxing as we get to spend some time in Seaside, Oregon for this event.

Anyway that’s kinda what’s new.  I’ve been a bit quite from our front because we are busy and have been away.  Once we move into our new place in July I’ll be sure to have regular updates and will keep you posted on the Double Eagle run!

Enjoy the rest of your June!!
