Inspirational Movie Quote
This quote I heard a little while ago is well timed and somewhat relates to my previous post on Moving Forward. The quote comes from the latest Rocky movie, Rocky Balboa and is one hell of a quote.
“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!” – Rocky Balboa
Have a great August Long Weekend!
Everest
Today was our final day with our internal Leadership Training course and it was a great course as far as internal training goes. I was able to take away a few nuggets to help out with my job and also some nuggets that will help in building our business. We saw a great video today called Everest which told the story of Erik Weihenmayer who was the first blind person to climb Everest. Pretty amazing eh?
One thing I love about this story was how people said he was crazy and that it was impossible for him to do it. Sounds like a familiar story I hear on occasion from those negative people about what we do. Telling us it’s impossible for us to make money or be successful in what we are doing. One thing that Erik did that we do is surround ourselves with people who believe in the vision we have and share the same ideas. Sound familiar? Yeah it’s a success principal, you are a product of your association. If you believe in your vision no matter what the naysayers say you will become successful in anything you do.
Climbing Mt. Everest is one of the hardest things to do and I’ll relate that in principal to what we are doing. I’ve always maintained that what we do is the hardest thing we’ve ever done however the prize is well worth it. Price and Prize always correlate. Check out the preview video below which is such an inspiration in itself.
Some interesting stats on Mt. Everest:
- World’s highest mountain above sea level at 8,848 metres or 29,029 ft.
- $25,000 for a climbing permit
- Since 2009 216 people have died
- 60 million years old
- 10% of the people who climb Everest make it to the top
- 1 in 6 people who attempt to climb Mt. Everest die
Reflections from Free Enterprise Days 2010
Wowwowweewow. What an amazing 2 ½ days it’s was in Portland for my 1st official Free Enterprise Days. Last year I was here as a guest while I was “researching” what Lindsay was getting into. While I was supporting Lindsay during the last FED, I was also judging and scrutinizing everyone with arms crossed thinking I don’t believe that or this. This year I have new eyes, and went in with an empty heart expecting it to be filled up with diamonds and rubies. I went in with some ideas of what I wanted out of this function as I think it’s important to know what you want to get out of a function like this. I was looking for ways I could elevate my leadership and work habit but more importantly ways of how I could move on.
Moving on is key because in order for your team to know how to move on and become successful you yourself need to do so. It was clear by pretty much every person speaking this year that they are united in the fact moving on is key. We in this market are VERY fortunate that our coaches who have personally sponsored us have reached that “1st Vision” of Double Eagle Ruby. Because of that they can teach us what it takes to move on and secure that for our own self. However this business honestly is not about you it’s about others and being that example for others so that they can move on themselves. It was pretty amazing to see our coaches who have personally sponsored us and also their cross-line and their direct uplines speak in front of over 10,000 people. The impact they had was unreal and something you’d need to experience to fully understand. Canada is rocking the house and inspiring a lot of people!
The largest impact I believe was the bus ride down and back, specifically the bus ride home. 16 motor coaches from western Canada invaded the Portland area taking with it around 800 people, a few other hundred flew or drove themselves. The bus ride back, wow, you want an impact, well you don’t need Diamonds to do that. You sit on a bus full of your team members and other cross line team members and you’re heart will be full beyond imagine. People who are inspired for their vision, their lives, and their families are pretty damn impactful. 5-6 hours of sharing from each person makes for a very short bus trip. I don’t care what anyone says about this business, or what they have “heard” or what they experienced when they built it in the past, the people building it in this Alberta market ARE different. This whole market is on the verge of exploding and impacting thousands and thousands of people and we are able to be one of those people making the impact.
This event is a pretty amazing and while some say it’s a “motivational” event, motivation actually has to come from within you. Nobody can motivate you however you can be inspired and use that inspiration to be motivated to do good for whatever it is in life that requires you to be motivated. I would gladly pay triple what I paid to attend an event like this considering I’ve attended IT conferences that cost $3000+ and I get nothing out of them other than spam e-mails and people calling me to buy their products. I would have never had the impact I had this past weekend and there are really no words to describe it. This entry will never do it justice.
So for the people not in this business or people reading this blog to be inspired by whatever it is you need to be inspired, I’ll leave you with this. Find something that inspires you in life and do whatever it takes to achieve it. Stop with the excuses and put the work habit in and do it!
Videos
I’ve posted a few links to the right simply titled videos —->. We have an amazing up-line couple who are in there Emerald qualification that will be going diamond in the next year (don’t tell me yeah right, just wait), who love to put together these videos. My favourite has to be “What is Freedom?” shown below:
Lindsay and a few others from this area and Saskatoon! will be added to this video in the next few months. While Lindsay’s freedom will be on there I cannot wait to be added to the debt free section which we are aiming for the end of the year.
To be honest I love motivational videos like this because 1) they were build with heart 2) they actually inspire (me anyway) and 3) we know it can happen. There is nothing wrong with being motivated or inspired and it doesn’t have to be these videos. It can be whatever works for you, just have something that inspires you! Have a great weekend!!
