Night of Inspiration

Inspiration So maybe you thought I’d not make a post today eh?  Well I’ve not gone to sleep so it’s still today and this blog post counts for the Summer Blogging Challenge.

This evening we got the chance to hear an amazing speaker talk on success, but more importantly talk about family.  Family is huge for me if you’ve not already understood that from me.  I love hearing how other people in this business have been impacted to allow such amazing things happen for their families.  Tonight I was inspired and maybe some people think going to hear someone speak to inspire you is lame or a waste of time or what not.  I for one think there is nothing wrong with being inspired by someone because in the world we live in there are not a lot of people to be inspired from.  Maybe I’m wrong but I think people get “inspiration” from wrong sources, not saying that my sources are the be all, but I think people really need to look and where they get inspired from and ask themselves, do they have the fruit on the tree?

Afterwards we had a great chance to meet up with our team and hear what kind of inspiration they took away from tonight.  It’s called a “Night Owl” and is why this blog post is so late.  I honestly love hearing what others have to say after an evening like this.  Everyone takes different things away and it’s pretty cool to hear how people interpret things.  Working with the people we have on our team is such an amazing blessing to us as they inspire us to be better people and better leaders for them.  Pretty humbling task I think.

Anyway it’s late and I’m ready for bed!

Inspirational Video of my Coaches/Mentors in Life

This video was just released this morning of what my coaches and mentors in life were able to do for their father.  I mentioned this in a previous post called “Selfless People”.  I wanted to post this video and give a little bit of back story as to why they did this for their father.

Clay’s dad works as a manager for a contracting company and discovered one of the crews that works for this contracting company was dealing drugs on site and using company vehicles to further their drug selling business.  Once he found this out he mentioned it to the higher ups and they eventually said they could not fire this crew because they made the company to much money.  Standing on morals and principals he could no longer work for a company that stood for such careless activities.  He gave his two weeks notice and quit (this is after 15 or so years).  Once he quit he had to give back his company truck and now is without a truck.

So while Clay’s dad is now early retired he still requires a truck because he would like to further his landscaping business.  Can’t do that without a truck.  So Clay and his wife Liz found out what kind of truck he would really like, down to the colour and options (without him knowing exactly why) and bought it for him.

The rest of the story is told in the video.  Such an inspiration and an example of honouring your parents which is something we should always be doing.  Doesn’t mean it needs to be done with a new truck but in this case it was perfect.  Enjoy…

Finally Arrived in Spokane

We arrived later this morning and after checking in had a little nap.  We are getting ready for the first evening session where the doors open at 6pm.  I’m excited to experience this function sitting on the floor with the other eagles.

I was thinking about why we are here and what we are going to get out of this and yes a lot of it will be motivation, some teachings and lastly some inspiration.  Now is there anything wrong with motivation?  Last time I checked no.  Also last time I checked going to something motivational costs a heck of a lot more then $125 for a ticket.  I’ve seen and experienced first hand the power of a function and how it helps instill belief and helps jumps starts you to move forward.  Sometimes people need a jump start, sometimes people don’t.  Either way this is a pretty SMALL price to pay in my mind to help move your business forward.  We’ve seen it. We went from 0 people in our organization to 6 people within 3 months.  I’d say that’s moving on.

Now again these are my experiences with this function and there are some people out there that like to quote me or say I’m just “drinking the juice” or following whatever my upline says.  I’m sorry but I’m my own business and I do what I please thank you very much.  I never said once I am a blind follower, NOT ONCE.  I do what I feel is best for our business and if I were to find something didn’t benefit my business well then I wouldn’t do it.

So anyway as we move forward this weekend I am really pumped to listen to some amazing speakers, listen to some amazing motivation and inspiration so that I can take that and apply it to my business and move it forward.  That’s what I’m excited for.  Probably won’t post again until either late or early morning tomorrow.

Enjoy your weekend whatever your doing!

Spring Leadership 2010 – Spokane

Oh baby… some of the messages that are coming out from the previous Spring Leaderships in Denver and Las Vegas are just amazing.  Last year from this area 5 charter bus’s went down, now there are 14 bus’s! If that’s not growth then I don’t know what is!  Thursday evening we will be loading up and making the drive down to Spring Leadership with close to 800 people jacked up and ready to move their lives forward.

I’m pumped to get around some of our leaders and have some great association time but most of all I’m pumped for John Maxwell.  One of the greatest speakers about Leadership and I cannot wait to hear what he has to say through the weekend.  I’m excited to hear Mike and Brandie speak as well as Dean and Marci and a whole bunch of new leaders.  I’m also pumped to be motivated, inspired and just excited about where we are going in life and how we are moving forward.

It’s a small price to pay to head down there but I know it will be well worth it.  I was a guest at Free Enterprise Day’s last year sitting in the bleachers, now I’m sitting in the Eagle section on the floor for this one.  It’s true, growth is built function to function.  We’ve seen it first hand, we believe it whole heartedly.

I’m sure I’ll have a few blogs entries through the weekend as I doubt I’ll get much sleep.  I’ll post one from the bus ride down and one from the bus ride back.  It’s going to be a blast!
