Videos

I’ve posted a few links to the right simply titled videos —->.  We have an amazing up-line couple who are in there Emerald qualification that will be going diamond in the next year (don’t tell me yeah right, just wait), who love to put together these videos.  My favourite has to be “What is Freedom?” shown below:

Lindsay and a few others from this area and Saskatoon! will be added to this video in the next few months.  While Lindsay’s freedom will be on there I cannot wait to be added to the debt free section which we are aiming for the end of the year.

To be honest I love motivational videos like this because 1) they were build with heart 2) they actually inspire (me anyway) and 3) we know it can happen.  There is nothing wrong with being motivated or inspired and it doesn’t have to be these videos.  It can be whatever works for you, just have something that inspires you!  Have a great weekend!!

Dream Stealers

DreamStealer Over the last few weeks I’ve seen an increase in the amount of people that are trying to steal our dream or goals.  Not sure why the increase but honestly it doesn’t matter.  When you are focused on your goals and dreams, no matter what they are, you will achieve them.  The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to NOT let anyone steal those dreams and goals.

There are so many dream stealers out there that for whatever reason feel the need to try and break your focus, take your vision, take your dream and take your goals away.  Maybe they are unsuccessful in their own lives and just want others to be like them.  Who knows what reason it is but the only way to deflect these dream stealers is to put hedges up.  Make sure that whatever it is that you are fighting for, whatever goals you have set out for your life is set deep, so deep that it doesn’t matter what someone says about them.

The absolute worst thing you could do is to give in and let them take your dream.  Its your dream, tell them to get their own dream.  We’ve had this happen so many times not only in what we’ve been doing in the last 6 months but our whole lives.  I remember even growing up in high school having some pretty crazy and wild goals that people just said to me “you’ll never obtain/achieve/get that”.  WHY NOT?  Because YOU said so?  Because you are the know-it-all?  I know a prime example of this that comes to mind.  Most of my friends know I played hockey for quite some time.  During that time I was often told I would never play AA or AAA hockey.  I knew I was good enough because I practiced more then anyone else, I would always be in the backyard playing with a stick and ball/puck and shooting on net, practicing stick handling, playing street hockey etc… (That’s a success principal by the way, doing what others are not willing to do).  So when people told me I could never play that level of hockey I used that negative motivation and made it my mission to achieve it.  I did.  So don’t ever let someone say you cannot achieve something, because you can if you want to.

Like I said, I don’t know why its increased in the last few weeks but really, it doesn’t matter.  We have set out our own vision, our own goals and have our own dreams.  To be honest I like the negative motivation it just pushes me more and more to become successful and set that example.  So keep it coming ;)

Motivation

motivationI recently listened to a leadership audio from John Maxwell where he was talking to a group of leaders with Wells Fargo and it really sunk in today for some reason.  Part of his talk was about motivation and how we try to feel our way into action and the whole thing on self motivation.  The biggest thing he said is how motivation isn’t going to hit you like lightning and how nobody can just give you motivation.

Forget motivation…JUST DO IT!

After you start doing the thing, that’s when motivation comes and makes it easy for you to do it.  For example have you ever felt like you just don’t feel like running?  Then you complain, ah I wish I had gone for that run and then you think like you wasted that chance?  Well how about if you just get out there and do the run, then afterwards you feel pretty awesome and full of energy?  I know that’s what I battle with all the time with running.  So feeling follows doing what is right, but if you wait to feel to do what is right, half the time you won’t even do it.

Motivation is a curious thing, it’s so easy to fall off the band wagon and even harder to get back on.  We tend to take the path of least resistance and that seldomly produces any results of any kind.

We are so blessed to have John Maxwell serve our business and provide us some great training on leadership.  He really is an amazing teacher on leadership.  Check out his blog here: John Maxwell on Leadership. His website here JohnMaxwell.com

Spring Leadership Day 2

Today was a pretty jam packed day.  Saturday always is and there is usually at least a speaker or two that people can relate to.  That’s the great thing about this conference, there is always someone that you’ll relate to or something that you’ll get out of.  You’ve got people like Greg & Laurie Duncan, Samir & Theresa Attalah, David & Debbie Shores, Tracey & Kimberly Eaton, Bob & Shelly Kummer, Dave & Jan Severn, Ron & Georgia Lee Puryear, and last but not least Brad and Julie Duncan.  In between all hose Diamonds, Double Diamonds and Crowns you’ve got Double Eagle Rubies speaking too.

There was pin crossings so we got to stand up as 1000 pins, however we’ve already surpassed that pin (this pin crossing is from the last Spring Leadership).  Then Canada just rocked it with a ton of Platinum, Platinum Plus and Platinum Elite’s crossing stage.  Some people say there is no growth in World Wide? I think if you were actually in World Wide you’d know there is a huge wave of growth happening right now.  Not an explosion yet, but it’s coming.  You want to see new Diamonds soon?  Mike and Brandie Wagner will soon be new diamonds, just wait and see.  There are at least a handful of new Diamonds that will break in the next few years.  It’s going to be pretty awesome.

Canada represented well today and really “owned” the pin crossings, so much in fact that Tracey Eaton had to say are there any Americans here?  Laying down the healthy competition gauntlet so our friends south of the boarder :)

John Maxwell talked again tonight and continued on his Connection series.  Just more great teaching from an amazing leader.  The way John delivers his message with humor, heart, hope and help is amazing.  He really captivates the audience and allows his teaching to sink in.

I’ll be honest about some things today.  I did not relate to everyone and in some instances I left the room and went to talk to the XS guys or some of the other vendors that showed up.  Specifically some of the Double Eagle Rubies that have really been there for many years without movement.  Even though I know we will move on and past that, I don’t want subconscious thoughts that camping out at Double Eagle Ruby is okay or whatever.  Don’t get me wrong that may be okay for them, they may have some goals I don’t know about or some life challenges that may stall them, I just choose not to listen and take that in.  That’s perfectly okay.  Nobody said you HAVE to sit there all day and listen to everyone speak.  There is a ton of flexibility with these functions which I love.

Anyway it was a very long day and I’m back in the hotel room.  There is a night owl going on for our team but i’m hacking up a lung trying to fight off a cold that is getting worse so I’m missing out.  I know my wife will represent “The Guthrie’s” well as I think our upline wanted us to talk about our vision.  I cannot wait to hear what she talks about.  We are still working on what our vision is going to be however we do have some great fundamentals for how we want to move our life forward and how we want to impact people.   Once we do solidify that vision I’ll be sure to make a posting.

P.S. The new XS Classic flavour is pretty good. Tastes JUST like Red Bull.  Perfect for the people that actually say they “like” the taste of Red Bull.. *cough* yeah right.

Finally Arrived in Spokane

We arrived later this morning and after checking in had a little nap.  We are getting ready for the first evening session where the doors open at 6pm.  I’m excited to experience this function sitting on the floor with the other eagles.

I was thinking about why we are here and what we are going to get out of this and yes a lot of it will be motivation, some teachings and lastly some inspiration.  Now is there anything wrong with motivation?  Last time I checked no.  Also last time I checked going to something motivational costs a heck of a lot more then $125 for a ticket.  I’ve seen and experienced first hand the power of a function and how it helps instill belief and helps jumps starts you to move forward.  Sometimes people need a jump start, sometimes people don’t.  Either way this is a pretty SMALL price to pay in my mind to help move your business forward.  We’ve seen it. We went from 0 people in our organization to 6 people within 3 months.  I’d say that’s moving on.

Now again these are my experiences with this function and there are some people out there that like to quote me or say I’m just “drinking the juice” or following whatever my upline says.  I’m sorry but I’m my own business and I do what I please thank you very much.  I never said once I am a blind follower, NOT ONCE.  I do what I feel is best for our business and if I were to find something didn’t benefit my business well then I wouldn’t do it.

So anyway as we move forward this weekend I am really pumped to listen to some amazing speakers, listen to some amazing motivation and inspiration so that I can take that and apply it to my business and move it forward.  That’s what I’m excited for.  Probably won’t post again until either late or early morning tomorrow.

Enjoy your weekend whatever your doing!
