Amway Posts $1 Billion in Sales for the Month of June

One-Billion-DollarsI don’t often get the whole “Amway, isn’t that a pyramid?” or “your still in that thing?”, In fact I’ve only had the “P” word come up once, and it was clearly by someone who had no idea what a pyramid was and was just using it as an excuse to make themselves look better.  Anyway, despite that, Amway is on track to break more records and in June posted $1 Billion in sales for the month of June.

Sales are up overall, including North America and Amway is on track to break even more records at the end of its fiscal in September.  So why is $1 Billion in sales a big deal for Amway? It’s the first time in 52 years they have broken the $1 Billion in one month.  They continue to be a powerhouse in the Direct Selling market as well as online shopping which they continue to be number one in online beauty and health sales.

This is great news especially in an economy where most companies are struggling to post numbers like and struggle to grow year after year through recessions.  I know many companies in around the Edmonton area that continue to struggle, let alone the rest of the country.  This is also great news because I know I’m involved with a company that continues to grow which only means positive results for my wife and I.

Again, think Amway is just a rinky dink company?  Better think again.

Fruits and Veggies, Are You Getting Enough?

Vibrant ProduceProbably not, a recent survey by Statistics Canada says Canadians are eating fewer fruits and vegetables for the first time in a decade.  Only 43% of people aged 12 and older ate fruits and vegetables more than five times a day in 2010.  Canada’s food guide says an Adult Male between the ages of 19-50 should be getting 8-10 servings per day and it’s no secret we don’t get anywhere near that.  Check here for the food guide. This report also talks about stress levels are up from 2008, 18% of the overall population is obese, people with hypertension, and the list goes on with health related horror stats.

This is exactly why people need to look at supplementation to their regular diet as we are obviously not getting enough.  Whether it’s being to busy or just not getting the quality and substance out of what you are eating, you need to supplement to help make sure you get all the nutrients your body is more than likely missing.  Now I don’t often promote our products on my blog but we have just the right supplement for this staggering stat.  It’s called Nutrilite Concentrated Fruits and Veggies and contains crucial phytonutrients from natural fruits, vegetables and plants enough to equal the amount found in 10+ servings in two tablets.  You cannot even eat 10 servings of fruits and vegetables for the amount of these supplements, we’ve tried.

Lastly if you are going to supplement, make sure you know the company your buying from.  Do the practice environmental sustainability?  Do they own their own organic farms? Or do they farm it out to some unknown company where they cannot track what happens to the product?  Do they plant, harvest and make pills on their own farms?  Have they been around for over 75 years and proven themselves as the global leader in vitamins and supplements?

Canadians Looking for a Business

EntrepreneurshipThe latest RBC Canadian consumer outlook states that 1 in 5 Canadians are thinking about starting their own business in the next 5 years.  To be honest I’m not surprised by this news article and the mentality of people these days.  People are looking for other opportunities outside of their full time jobs that hardly pay them enough.  Without question I hear it almost every day that people complain about not enough money, have bills to pay, not enough time in a day, want to spend more time with my family, I’m working two jobs just to make it, and it goes on and on and on.  Don’t believe me? Start opening your ears and you’ll hear it as well.

So out of this article what’s the biggest challenge to starting a business, getting enough money to start or expand.  28% of people said this was a concern.  It also says that 14% of people worry about getting clients and others feel it would take to long to turn a profit.  To be honest those numbers are pretty low when it comes to concerns and shouldn’t stop people from exploring the potential to reach whatever goals and dreams they have.

I just happen to know of a business opportunity that’s got a pretty low cost to running a business and know a few people who have been successful in helping others reach those types of goals and dreams.  Woah, low and behold that opportunity is the Amway business opportunity.  Surprised?  If you’ve been reading this blog you shouldn’t be, if your new maybe you are then.  What other business can you start that doesn’t require a loan at the bank of some business grant from the government?  Not very many, in fact I don’t know any outside of this opportunity.

Our business is backed by an amazing company that has been around for over 50 years and is continually growing in revenue year after year.  So if your worried Amway is going to pack it in with the reception, you better give your head a shake.  It’s not going anywhere but up.

We’ve got great brands such as Nutrilite and Artistry that are tops when compared to the competitors and are products that people use every single day month after month, so clients are not hard to find, at least for us anyway.  Our business is based on helping others succeed first before we do and coaching & mentoring people through the business as many who start don’t know how to run a business.  I know the government sure isn’t mentoring you through a business that’s for sure.

Anyway the thing is people are looking for opportunity outside of what they are doing and that’s what entrepreneurship is cool. You are given that freedom to build however large of a company you want with little roadblocks and restrictions, and because you run a business your entitled to some pretty substantial tax benefits as well.  I’m not going to sit here and say you have to build this business, but this business does work and compared to other start-ups is pretty darn cheap to get into and has mentorship like no other with World Wide Dreambuilders.

Earth Hour 2011

60plus_taglineIt’s that time of year again where we switch our lights off around the globe to take a stand against climate change, Earth Hour.  At 8:30 pm for one hour on March 26th, turn your lights and unnecessary power consuming devices off for one hour.  I think each and every one of us should not only participate but as the campaign says this year to go beyond the hour and think about what else you can do to make a difference.  Making a difference is not hard, it’s those little changes to our daily habits that can compound over time if people are just able to get out of their old habits and in some cases selfish ways.

What I think it pretty cool about the business we operate from is that we do it out of our own home and don’t need to have traditional business infrastructure in place.  We also work with a company that has high environmental stewardship and has since 1959.  Not many companies I bet can say that and that’s something we are pretty proud of.  Legacy of Clean provides us with some great green cleaning supplies that actually work, are priced just as comparable if not better than other products that your local Wall-Mart provides.  I’ve actually gone and compared so I’m not just spouting out false claims.  Even our vitamins are sustainable in that they are the only global vitamin and mineral brand to grow, harvest and process plants on its own certified organic farms.  I could go on and on about how Amway is an environmental leader when it comes to stewardship but I won’t, you can check it out for yourself here: Amway’s Environmental Stewardship Commitment.

Even before Lindsay and I started our business we were always conscious on what we bought and who we bought from.  As an avid outdoors men I’ve always keep a close eye on the impact I make on this world.  I’ve been able to take that same mentality from the outdoors and bring it to normal day living with who I buy from, where I buy from, what I buy and how I use it.  I think it’s more important than people realize and if a small event like Earth Hour can help us realize for one hour what our impact is maybe we can start to change our attitude.  I love how this year’s new tagline is “Go beyond the hour for Earth Hour in 2011”, because it’s not just one hour that we can make a change, it’s in every day living.  So start thinking about how you can make those simple changes and start supporting companies and products that promote a greener planet!

Working out and L-Glutamine

Well a quick update on the gym front, it’s going awesome. However it’s tough, its hard to get into a routine and work it into what some people may call a busy schedule.  The thing with anything in life, if you want to make it a priority you will, and you’ll reschedule your life around whatever it is that’s important.  For me getting into shape is important and I’ve been able to work my schedule so that I can have at least three days a week to work out.  And it’s working!  I’m down to under 220lbs and I’ve not been under 220lbs for a few years now.

While working out, especially if your doing weights you need to make sure you are taking the proper amount of protein and supplements to promote muscle retention and repair.  I do supplement because regular food, even if you take everything that’s on Canada’s Food Guide, doesn’t have all the nutrients that it should.  Not to mention I don’t know anyone that truthfully eats 100% off the Canada Food Guide or even comes close to it, so therefore people need to supplement.

WheyProteinThere are two great products that we offer that help people who want to build and repair muscle.  The first is Nutrilite’s Whey Protein Powder which is perfect for this right after a work out.  It has 25g’s of protein that’s fast-digesting to quickly build and repair muscles.   You may recently be concerned with Whey Protein because of the news article by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency doing a bunch of recalls, well Nutrilite because of their amazing practices does not fall under this recall.  I’ve done my comparisons of our product with our next best competitor GNC and our product beats them hands down with the content and price.  So the whole “our stuff is so expensive” is quite frankly BS.  The same could be said for any company.  1/3 is higher, 1/3 is the same, 1/3 is lower, every company has that kind of structure on all kinds of products.

The next great product is actually our energy drinks XS.  Why would I say an energy drink is good for you XSafter a work out?  Because XS contains L-Glutamine which is an amino acid, just like protein.  It is the most abundant free amino acid in muscle tissue, and it plays a crucial role in protein metabolism, cell volumizing and anti-catabolism.  Catabolism is the breaking down of your muscles, which is something you really don’t want to happen.  It’s what happens when you do cardio or weights where the body needs fuel and will use it’s own muscle for energy.  So here enters L-Glutamine which is an anti-catabolic and allows you to maintain as much muscle as possible and prevents the breakdown of muscle cells.  Really L-Glutamine in simple terms helps anyone trying to lose fat and keep as much muscle as they can.  I did a quick check and our next competitor Red Bull, it doesn’t even have L-Glutamine in their energy drink.  Not to mention Red Bull has 110 calories, 27 g of sugar and 28 g of carbs.  Compare that with XS which is much healthier for you at 8-17 calories, 0 sugars, and 0 carbs.  Makes for a pretty healthy after work out beverage that not only gives you energy but helps with your muscle retention and repair.  Lastly our XS is also on par with the price of Red Bull and has 180 day money back satisfaction guarantee, try taking your red bull back to the gas station and getting a refund! LOL

So there you have it, these are my two best friends as of late and have been helping with health kick and my hitting the gym.  Make sure that whatever whey protein your taking isn’t on the recall list and check and make sure what your putting into your body with regards to your energy drinks, probably not very good.
