Positive Experiences

PositiveI heard a message the other day that really resonated with me. The premise was really about the fact that just because some people have had negative experiences with World Wide Dreambuilders or Amway doesn’t give them the right to try and take away good experiences people have had with World Wide Dreambuilders and Amway.  It’s not impossible to think people CAN have a good experience with these two companies.  It really all comes down to people, that’s where the issue resides and why you need to make sure you know WHO you are working with.

To be honest the voice of so few people really have no weight at all.  We’ve had a few people that mentioned they read a blog here or there on World Wide Dreambuilders or Amway and we said yeah, there is negative and positive about anything in the world.  It all depends on where you decide on getting your education from.  Do you choose to take information and knowledge from someone you’ll never meet face to face, or do you choose to take knowledge from a real person who will be honest with you and look you in the whites of your eyes.  I’ve mentioned many times before we are very transparent and are upfront and honest with ALL aspects of this business.  I know many other people building this business, at least in the Alberta and Western Canada market that are just that.

Don’t take my word for it, I’m not asking you to believe me, I’m saying ask questions and educated, that is your responsibility.  If your skeptical about something, you should be excited at the opportunity to learn about whatever it is your skeptical about in order for you to make up your own mind. However if you call yourself skeptical but are not willing to gather information, the truth of the matter is you don’t trust yourself enough to make up your own opinion. You choose, be skeptically intelligent or be skeptically unintelligent.

Positive experiences can and do happen here.

Hiccups

Nothing is every perfect in life or in business.  To be honest you never think hiccups can happen to you, however they always seem to come unexpected.  What sets people apart from the average is how they deal with those hiccups and then move on.

We’ve experienced a small small hiccup in our business and looking at it I’m glad we have.  I’m glad because we’ve been able to experience it, understand it, and just move forward with it.  I’m not going to go into specifics so don’t bother asking.  We are building a people business and when people are involved there are always a ton of other factors that are involved.  Things happen for a reason and you cannot dwell on those things.  Yeah you may be disappointed but if you just throw your hands up and give up then you really are weak a you’ll never become successful, you’ll be a quitter.  You cannot let the small things get in the way of your true passion and or dreams.

We are moving on, we don’t have time to dwell on the small things and that’s an exciting feeling.  This really is an amazing business we have here and I LOVE investing time into the amazing leaders that we have coming on.  We really do have an amazing team and they all know who they are.  I could not be more proud to work with a bunch of amazing people that are looking forward to moving their lives forward and not being average.  I shouldn’t even say “looking forward”, we’ve got team members that have made some HUGE decisions that are just setting themselves up for success.

I’ll say it again I love doing what we do which is coaching and mentoring people in life.  Sure there is a business aspect but that’s a small portion of what we do.  If it was just a business of selling and that’s it, I wouldn’t be doing it.  Amazing!

Never give up, always look to the positive within the hiccups in your life!

Staying Focused at Work Part 2

So I was thinking today at work about my blog entry yesterday, Staying Focused At Work, and figured the only way I’m really going to be able to stay focused and not dwell on it is to just obtain some more skills and be the best I can be at my job.  I was given a comment awhile back that while I’m at my job I should be putting in a good effort regardless because right now it’s the main money maker.  I owe it to my company to put in a solid effort despite what is going on outside of work.

So with that I’ve decided to pick up my CompTia Project+ book which will get me certified in project management.  Its one of the certs I’ve been wanting to get and I think it will help me out in my job while I am there and really will help with future projects regardless of what job I have.  I’ve also started reading and taking up PowerShell, for those of you that don’t know what PoweShell is you should.  It’s AWESOME! You can check it out here for more information.  I know one of my good friends Colin over at Benchmark IT Consulting uses it and loves it.  He uses it for SQL, however I’ll be looking at it more on the Windows side of things.  WOW, my blog just increased it’s geek factor by 10 there.  Trust me I’ll keep that to a minimum.

So what I’m really saying is in my moment of being frustrated yesterday I turned it around today into something a bit more positive and thought I might as well just do the best job I can and get as much education I can from where I am regardless of anything else I have going on.  If anything it will just help me with my reading so I can become an even better reader!

Quick Reflection

In talking with some people over the last few weeks people have said they’ve noticed a change in me.  A change for the better I have to add.  However one particular person I was talking with today really hit it home for me and I’m so thankful they were honest with me. 

This person I’ve been friends with since back in the NAIT days and I’ve cherished her friendship quite a lot.  However there was a point in our friendship where we kinda lost connection and where she didn’t really talk to me much anymore.  I never knew why she was so distant and until today.

The reason was because I was this negative person and she couldn’t understand why I was that way.  She said I have a great wife, great condo downtown, great life and yet here I was a grumpy negative person.  I never ever saw that in myself and never really thought I was driving people away.  I guess knowing that now I’m surprised I didn’t drive more people away, or maybe I did?  She told me this was the reason why she stopped associating with me and I don’t blame her and see exactly why.  She was guarding her association and that’s exactly what we do now.

I have to thank being involved with World Wide Dreambuilders for the change in mindset and the association with the amazing people we associate with.  They are all positive successful people who want nothing but the best for themselves and others and because of my association with them I’ve turned into that.  I now fully understand the power of association, it’s more powerful then you’ll ever know.  I do have to add that Amway Global does not provide this association, coaching and mentorship, that is all WWDB and that is an awesome thing.

I fully understand people have other coaching and mentorship in their lives and that is awesome, people need that nowadays.  If you have that then you’ve already put yourself ahead of others and I wish you much success.  If you don’t have mentorship and coaching, you should find some.  It will change your life, it did for me in ways I can never repay.

Dreams + Goals = Dream Night!!

It’s that time of year where this amazing organization we are a part of (World Wide Dreambuilders) puts on Dream Night.  So what is Dream Night you ask?  Cause I know your asking :)

Dream Night is an evening designed to show that dreams can become reality.  It’s an elegant evening, which includes a fully catered dinner, inspiring videos, and the highlight is listening to some amazing amazing speakers who give us their insight on how they turned their dreams into reality.  What better way to really kick off 2010 with an amazing event like this.

So I’ll be driving down to Calgary Saturday afternoon to attend my first Dream Night.  I’m so pumped to get down to Calgary and see what this even is all about.  It’s going to be a great time to get some association time with a lot of successful people and just be in a room with POSITIVE people who want nothing more but the best for their life.  You have no idea what that’s like until you get into such a room.  The energy you get from people that are positive and uplifted is amazing. 

It’s an event you don’t want to miss!
