Do You Have A Plan For Retirement?

retirement According to David Dodge most Canadians are not, and I believe him.  It’s apparent because of how many people lead a careless irresponsible debt ridden lifestyle.  We are in a recession (even with this short upswing) and people are spending money like it’s going out of style. People are just not getting it and are living in the now.  Check out this article – CBC News Link.  Basically the biggest item from this article is Canadians need to save between 10 and 22 per center of their PRE-TAX incomes each year for at least 35 years.

This is just one out of many reasons why we’ve decided to build an amazing business with amazing people.  We want to secure our future and if we have to put in hard work over the next 2 to 3 years to make that happen then we will.  See the thing about “Retirement” is once you are retired you now have to watch your money.  You cannot live the same lifestyle you may have lived before.  You have little money coming in and you are basically pulling money from the pile you worked 40 years to create.  Oh and then the best is when people say “I’m downsizing”.  Why should you have to downsize?  If you retire at 65 years you potentially have another at least 20-30 years to live.  Why would you downsize and live somewhere you really don’t want to?  Wouldn’t you rather have a residual income coming in so that you can live the lifestyle you want?

One amazing thing I love about what we do is that we can build an amazing legacy for our children.  Sure there is some hard work up front like I said but I’d love to be able to work hard and then make sure my children and my children’s children are secure with financial freedom.  How cool is that?  Can you pass down your JOB to your children when you die? Don’t think so.  So if there was just one reason to build this, that would be a pretty damn good one.

Check out this article and really take a hard look at your life and see if you are in a vehicle that will allow you to have financial freedom, will allow you to have a dignified lifestyle well into your 80’s.  Some people have their own vehicle and as I’ve told them I respect that but one thing we agree on is there are A LOT of people who don’t and it’s those people that need help.  It’s those people we want to impact and help them setup a legacy for themselves and their family.  That’s a pretty amazing goal in my opinion.

Lastly what’s up with all those ads with old people being depicted as retired. Who said you have to be old to be retired??

Reflections from 84 Hours

This previous week I spent 84 hours of my life at my job.  This is the first time I believe that I’ve worked this long in my whole working life.  I’ve come close but this is the tops.  I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on it and while I still have to work and give my best to my employer I cannot help feel there has to be another way.

And there is!  Lindsay and I building our own business as a unified couple will help rid the disease that is the J.O.B. :)   I’ve had enough of giving my job the best part of my day.  I mean honestly what do I get out of it? Sure I get a paycheque so that I can pay for the things in life that cost money.  But at what cost?  The cost of my wife?  The cost of my family?  Working 84 hours this week really took a toll on me to the point I became pretty grumpy and not a nice person to my wife.  We had a few arguments because when your mind is wrapped up in work your focus is not on your wife and sometimes a little comment here or there can set you off.  Its not that I mean to do it on purpose its because I’m not in the right mental state.  I got a taste of what it’s like for people that work 80+ hours regularly and THAT SUCKS!  This is one of the main reasons why the divorce rate is so high.

I thought that I loved my job before I started our business.  I honestly did, I thought I had a kick ass job and it was something I could be happy with.  Funny how your mind changes when you start hanging out with successful people.  People that have changed their mindset from a job mentality to a work for you self and free up your time mentality.    The work we are doing now is setting our self up for success in the future. Are we busy now? Yeah we are but we choose to be because as we invest time now we get time back on the other end.  Reap what you sow.  We’ve seen this first hand with other people we associate with so you cannot tell me this doesn’t work.

I’m tired of giving my best to someone else, I want to give my best to my wife and family and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.  A lot of people are not, that’s why only 2% of the world thinks this way.  Working a regular job just won’t do it for you and I’ve realized that, well have for awhile now.  Holidays also don’t count.  So many people think ooh I’ve got 4 weeks of holidays or 6 weeks of holidays where I can be free.  Yeah but you’ve gotta come back to your job otherwise you don’t get paid.

That’s why we are creating a residual income, where we put in the work up front and in the end the money comes in if we work or not.  Now let me clarify not everything qualifies as residual income.  If you have to continue to work to make your money your not making residual income.  You need to make sure the income comes from a product or service that people cannot live without.  Eating, Drinking and Wiping just happens to be things people cannot live without :) Why do you think in a recession companies like Johnson and Johnson continue to make money, because everyone needs toilet paper.  Even in a recession people require toliet paper.  If you are going to make residual income your best bet is to make sure it’s something EVERYONE needs.

I’ll maintain that not everyone is cut out for what we do, I’m fine with that.  We invest a lot of time into people to help them become successful.  This isn’t a sign you up and call me if you need me business like many think it is.  Don’t believe me? Come get around someone like Brad Duncan, David Payne or Christine Schewchuck and you’ll see we are much more then just products, we are about people and want are looking for mentorship and coaching.

I’m super pumped for the time I can step away from my job.  It will be a glorious day here I can just say “Boss man, I’ve decided to retire” LOL the look on his face will be priceless.

When are you going to retire?

Happy New Year

When I look back at 2009 I can without hesitation say it is a year that I will never forget.  Its a year that my wife and I decided to stop being a 98%’er and turn into a 2%’er.  We are doing the opposite of the masses and it is that mentality that will turn our 2010 into just another regular year into probably the most successful year of our lives.  When we look at where our coaches were this time last year and then look at where they are this year we can see if we continue on the path we are on now we are headed for great things.  Great things like being debt free or pretty darn close to it.  Having my wife retired from her job so that when we start trying for kids in the last half of this year, she can be stress free and a free woman!  Nothing makes me more excited then the opportunity to having my wife free in 2010.

A lot of people cannot even understand what it would be like to be retired by the age of 25.  A lot of people think it cannot be done, but rest assured it CAN be done, and there is NO WAY you can tell me it cannot be done because our direct coach is just that. A free woman.  I am so excited you have no idea!!

Its been 7 months since Lindsay has been in the World Wide Dreambuilder business and 2 months since we’ve been building this business together.  In those 7 months total we’ve created a business that is self funded as of the 2nd month, and is turning a profit every month with residual income.  The tools we buy, marketing material, and other business related expenses do not come out of our pocket, they come directly out of the business.  We’ve also personally grown by the books we’ve read and the people we hang around with.  I could not have asked for a better end to the 2009 year!

I’m pumped to see what 2010 will bring for us and how we will continue to grow personally and also how our business will grow.

Have yourself an awesome 2010!!!

An Example of Amazing Coaches

Check out these two videos put together of our two of our upline coaches that we continually get mentorship and coaching from. Team Wagner and Team Whalen! We could not ask for better coaches and mentors. They have amazing hearts and will lead this Alberta market to things unseen before in this part of Canada!! Mark my words! These guys have stepped away from their full time jobs because of this business we are in and my wife and I will also be doing the same in a very short time with hard work, determination and persistency and consistency! There is no option of failure and no option of turning back… there is only… FREEDOM!

What is Freedom?

Canadian Pension is a Joke!

Yesterday my wife and I were in Safeway and an older gentlemen in front of us didn’t have his Safeway club card to save $1 on cat litter.  So I gave him my club card to use and he saved the dollar.  The lady at the register said a dollar is a dollar and the guy was like I sure know that!  He was telling us how he was living off his pension which was around $750 a month.  I thought to myself $750 to live off of each month?! HOLY CRAP.  He really didn’t look like there was much hope in his eyes and just looked dejected with life.  I guess, $750 is not a lot of money.  He went on to say how earlier in his life he was sold on the idea that the Canadian Pension Plan would give him the freedom for his retirement.  Yeah umm he was totally sold a crock and $750 doesn’t buy you ANY freedom.  Who knows what CPP will be left for me when we retire!

So that’s why we are working hard to build this business and share it with others who want more out of life then $750 dollars when you turn 65.  There WON’T be any money for us when we turn 65 so it’s up to us to take our freedom into our own hands and this business will allow us to do that.  Isn’t that worth it?  Wouldn’t it just be worth it to at least try?  I think so and I totally believe.
