Discussion/Comments

Last year at some point I decided to turn my comments off, It was my decision and quite frankly its my blog and regardless of what people think I can do what I want.  Half way through the year I decided to turn the comments back on as friends and other trusted people suggested I do so.  I figured I’d give it a shot to see if there was any additional value and aside from the Summer Blog Challenge there has really not been any additional value of having comments on.  I continue to get the same style of comments/spam that has not changed in two years and regardless of what I say that will never change.  So why bother?

I’m not a cape crusader of Amway or World Wide Dreambuilders, if you don’t like either companies or have had wrong doings in the past with a person involved with these companies then stop reading.  My blog is about my personal experiences with this type of business, the personal growth I’ve undergone, achievements, failures, and everything in-between.  I no longer need validation by anyone that what we are doing is “acceptable”, the industry is doing that on it’s own with or without me.

So with that discussion and comments will be permanently disabled, I don’t want to make the time to check email or the spam filter list, Akismet does a great job of that for me without my intervention.  I could be doing a lot more productive things with my time.  Again thanks for your continued interest in this blog.

Goals, Dreams, and Aspirations oh my!

I’ve always been a goal setter even before getting involved with World Wide Dreambuilders and Amway.  However I think the biggest thing I’ve learned is putting those things in the forefront.  My post today is actually inspired by @KimLiving who’s blog is http://www.mynaturebaby.ca/blog/.  She posted last night that she was working on building a life board.  Check it out here.  Kim, I hope you don’t mind me sharing, however you did publish it publicly so I figure that’s okay.

Anyway I love seeing things like this and it’s the same concept of having your goals and dreams done the same way.  Having what you want out of life and making it visual will only make it that much more real and that much more easier to obtain.  Things like “celebrate every moment”, “be your best”, and this one “make a lasting impression” are amazing quotes of affirmations.  Kim, you have actually inspired me to revisit some of the things around our house and update and add to what we have already on our walls and fridge.  So thank you!

I fully believe everyone who is serious about the goals, dreams, and aspirations they have in life should make them visual.  Pick up a success book of any kind and when you talk about these things they all say to write them down or make them visual.  They all have different percent’s of how much more likely you’ll achieve them but any percent above 0 is good in my books.  It’s kind of a no brainer however some people will just make fun of you for doing it.  That’s fine, your not building your life for them, your doing it for you so just ignore the naysayers and as I like to call them “dream stealers”.

We actually have a budget for magazines so that we can do something like what Kim has and since it’s now September we are going to head down to Whyte Ave, probably to http://www.hubnews.ca/ and check out some new magazines to expand our dreams and things we want.  Thanks Kim for the added inspiration.

Detroit Red Wings and Amway?

AmwayDetroitRedWingsYes it’s true, the Detroit Red Wings have continued and expanded their original partnership with Amway to a more principal sponsorship.  Both companies (yeah an NHL team is a company) are privately owned and reside in the state of Michigan so there is somewhat of a natural fit there based on those two things.

It’s quite funny some of the comments that are coming out from people that are just ignorant and have no clue what they are talking about.  It’s quite comical, people saying they will never watch another Detroit Red Wings game because of this to people talking about how can an illegal pyramid company sponsor a team like the Red Wings.  Well first thing is first, Amway has been around since 1959 and its continued to grow and will close out last fiscal year in the double digits of $10+ Billion dollars.  Yes, they’ve had legal issues, who hasn’t! but are the governmental model by the FTC for this type of business.  Illegal companies are not governmental models. Last point on this, companies like Wall Mart, Canadian Tire, etc.… are sued and have way more legal battles than Amway.  So enough already on the illegal pyramid and illegal company BS. That’s old school.  To those who say they won’t be watching another game, yeah right.

One of the things I love about this deal is it’s honestly not about money, the Red Wings have a lot of money they don’t need sponsorship.  They’ve never needed it in the 86 years that they’ve been around.  The goal is to bring the two logos and companies closer together and this will benefit Amway significantly I believe.  Partnerships and sponsorships bring validity in some ways and I think this will help further Amway’s charge to creating a positive image.  They’ve done a great job so far and as I’ve said before we hardly hear anything negative about Amway anymore.  When we do, it’s people that are uneducated.  You want to know information about Amway and the opportunity?  Why not ask someone that has integrity and is actually involved with Amway.  It would be like me asking your Grandmother how to play football, I doubt I’d get the best answers.

A few more things about this partnership is Nurtrilite will be the official vitamin and supplement of the Red Wings.  They will definitely see a benefit with the high quality products that Nutrilite has as have our athletic customers.  Lastly there are multiple community-based initiatives that both Amway and The Red Wings will be collaborating on.  That’s one of the coolest things that Amway does, they have HUGE community involvement which I respect a lot.

Want the full details of the partnership?  Check out the Red Wings news link.http://redwings.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=587621

Bus Adventures

Bus

Today is the first day since 1999 when I was going to NAIT that I’ve started taking the bus to work.  We’ve had the luxury while my wife’s father is in Holland to borrow their vehicle and make things a bit easier.  However today that’s come to an end and I’ve started taking the Edmonton Transit System to work.

All in all today’s experience wasn’t all that bad.  Edmonton has some pretty nice bus’s, we’ve got a fairly new fleet so they are not dirty or dingy or falling apart like some the bus’s that were running back in 1999.  They were I believe 40 year old bus’s at that time.  Now the oldest bus’s are maybe 10 years old I think?

While I wasn’t overly happy with taking the bus, there are quiet a few positives that I am able to find with taking the bus.  I’m able to listen to my audio’s a lot easier, I can listen to podcasts, I can catch up on emails at work and get them sorted out before I actually get to work, I can check my regular news sites and lastly I’m actually doing something good for the environment.  Not driving a second vehicle actually saves us even more money and we can put that towards something more useful like some extra stuff for Wyatt!

ETSIt will take a little getting used to because I have to get up 15 minutes earlier and I get home around 20 minutes later than when driving.  I think today was a busy day because a lot of school has started up again and that’s putting a lot of stress on the bus schedules.  None of them were on time which caused some confusion and I actually missed one of my bus’s home.  Oh well.

Anyway I think during the winter it’s actually going to be a plus.  If I don’t have to worry about driving in the winter then that’s a plus in my books.  This won’t be forever because as I walk away next year from my job there won’t be any reason for a bus pass any longer.

Official Cop Out Post

I’m actually struggling tonight to make a post.  I know the last time I did this I actually ended up writing about something in the end however tonight I just don’t have anything meaningful to write about.

…..

..

I guess today I’m just content with the way things are going in our life, there isn’t anything I need to reflect on today, there isn’t anything that’s really sticking out.  Honestly I don’t have to hit the 150 words today since I failed two posts this challenge.  Meh. This is my post for today!

I’m going to read…

I suggest you check out some of the other blogs below, they may have something more meaningful tonight.
